On May 17, the members of PWS gathered to honor our two 2017 scholarship recipients, Keri Carter and ZaMya Williams. Both Keri and ZaMya are 2017 graduates of Portal Middle/High School and will be attending Georgia Southern University in the fall.
The keynote speaker for the annual scholarship luncheon was Audrey King of Georgia Power. Audrey is currently the Statesboro Area Manager for Georgia Power Company. She has held various positions over the past 26 years. Audrey has worked as a Customer Service Representative & Supervisor, Engineering Support Representative, Sales Team Leader & Sales Manager, External Affairs Manager and Assistant to the Vice President in Macon and Valdosta, Georgia.
She joined Georgia Power in January of 1991. Over the years, she has served as a member of the United Way Executive Board, Homebuilders Association, Commercial Council of Realtors, Georgia Restaurant Association, President of Valdosta North Rotary Club, Citizens of Georgia Power and a host of other opportunities. She also served as an appointed member of the Education Reform Commission under Governor Nathan Deal, Valdosta State University – Foundation Board, Wiregrass Technical College – Trustee, Valdosta Chamber of Commerce, and other community partners.
