March 2017 Meeting Recap

The March meeting of Professional Women of Statesboro met on Wednesday, March 15th at the Holiday Inn.

During this month’s meeting, we welcomed several guests.

Our scheduled speaker was Alice Mathews of Buzz Marketing and she spoke about effective networking. Here are 10 networking tips she gave us:

  1. Have confidence
  2. Connect
  3. Communicate
  4. Cultivate relationships
  5. Collaborate
  6. Challenge – do you have someone who can challenge you and be honest?
  7. Champion – we need to champion those around us who have goals.
  8. Celebrate
  9. Create opportunities
  10. Be consistent – make an intentional point to follow-up

Our March raffle (a $25 Serenity Day Spa and Salon gift certificate) was provided by our March member spotlight, Mandy Edwards of ME Marketing Services, who shared with us some statistics on Facebook advertising.

  • Mentioned member intake form if you have filled it out yet – deadline March 31 to be included in the digital directory. Fill it out online here.
  • Krisha Craven has extended her headshot special for current members until March 31. This will become a new member perk for all new members who join. For more details or to book your discounted headshot, contact Krisha at krisha@krishacraven.com.
  • Upcoming programs & member spotlights:
    • April – The Myth of Balanced Time with Dr. Patrice Buckner-Jackson, Dean of Students, Georgia Southern University.
    • May – Scholarship Luncheon, May 17 at 12pm at Holiday Inn.
    • June – Free Spirit Pottery PWS Night, June 15th 6-7pm. $25 canvas painting. Adult beverages included!

Upcoming Networking/Outreach Events:

  • Pink Power Run for the Statesboro-Bulloch County Breast Cancer Foundation, Saturday, March 25th at the RAC Pavilion. Volunteers are needed for the following:
    • March 23rd – Stuffing race bags at the GSU RAC Pavilion from 5:30-7:30pm
    • March 24th – Packet Pickup at the GSU RAC Pavilion from 9am-6pm (can pick time to work)
    • March 25th – RACE DAY! 7am-9am Registration at the GSU RAC Pavilion.
  • Junior League of Savannah – Bridge Program, Saturday, April 22nd at the Russell Union.
    • Looking for opening speaker/kick-off event, 9:30-10am. Speaking on empowerment, fulfilling your potential. motivation, etc. Contact America for more information.

  • Chris O’Malley, Professional Relations Coordinator for East Georgia Center for Oral and Facial Surgery was featured in Statesboro Moments Magazine as their “Go Girl” for March for her work with Choices of the Heart Pregnancy Crisis Center and St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
